What You
Need:
2 cups frozen green peas
1 large tomato chopped
2 onions fried until golden brown
1tbs white cumin seeds
Salt to taste
1 large Bay leaf
2 black cardamoms
1/4 cup to 1/2 cup Canola Oil
10 Black pepper corns
5 Cloves
1 tbs turmeric powder
1 cinnamon stick
4 cups Basmati rice washed and soaked
How To:
1. Using a large shallow pot with a lid, fry everything except the green peas and rice.
2. After 5mins, add peas and 1 cup of water.
3. Cover and cook for about 10mins on medium heat until the water evaporates and the oil starts to show along the sides.
4. Was the basmati rice a couple of times and soak for 20mins.
5. Drain the rice and add to the peas.
6. Add 8 cups of water to the pan.
7. Bring to a boil and place the lid on top and cook for about 15mins on the lowest heat until the rice is tender and the water has been absorbed.
8. Right before serving, mix the rice 3-4 times to fluff it up.
