The Oscars are coming up this weekend and I don’t know about you guys but we love Oscar night at our place. We put together some snacks and food before hand and while watching the show, we make a list of the movies we want to watch based on the Oscars. We definitely don’t follow all the wins, but it gives us a glimpse into what we have been missing out on all year and what we need to watch. I know- backwards. But that’s how we do it! This Sunday I plan to keep it simple because we’re quite busy with some catering orders and I think popcorn, buffalo bites, salad, and sandwiches should do. These buffalo bites are super easy to make and are a great snack item that your entire family will enjoy. They are a little different from the ones you get in the restaurants (they’re soft and juicy versus crispy) but hey- I like both kinds. So easy- and your friends or family will be lickin their fingers! Serve with some blue cheese dressing and crudités if you wish. Do you watch the Oscars and have a special night planned or you’re not that into it?
W.P This recipe is for those of you who are pressed for time and don’t know how you are going to manage making a homemade dessert to go along with your menu. Pineapple Glory is easy to make and best of all- uses one square pyrex dish for mixing, baking and serving. It can’t get any easier than that can it? My sister had given me this recipe years ago, and I was quite skeptical about it at first, but once I made it, I loved it!
As I mentioned to you guys on FB a couple of days back, I have joined Zardozi Magazine as their Feature food writer as of this week and you can check out my first post Fearless Fusion on the site today. I will be writing about my experiences and love affair with food and all things related to it. I have also uploaded the recipe for the deliciously easy no sauce rustic vegetable and ricotta pizza so do check that out. Please let me know what you think about the article and keep reading every week!
W.P My mom made this juice every day for me for 6 months before I was getting married (hey- fat flush and all you know!) I used to call it the magic green goo and by the way, she didn't add the lovely tasting apples! I couldn't look at kale for a good year after this. However, I have recently started including kale again in my morning smoothies and the addition of apple really works to forget what you're drinking. Try it out. Nida know what she is talking about. Your body will thank you. W.P Following through on my promise from the last post, here is another fat flushing recipe for your commitment to true health this year! Most people often wonder how to get their protein in with juices or raw food and many are not even aware that we need protein to stave off hunger and feed the basic needs of our cells. I certainly didn't until my nutritionist made me aware of it.
This juice recipe is a complete protein which means it contains all of the essential amino acids. In the raw vegan world you can mix and match to create complete proteins, however here are some examples for combining complimentary proteins for those who are leaning into an alternate style but still want to bring in complete proteins in their meals:
So where do you get protein in the raw vegan world? Same place as the elephants, bulls, buffalos -- from eating plants! Plant-based foods contain extremely high-quality protein that is easier for your body to digest and benefit from. If you eat plenty of greens and have a variety of nuts/seeds (but not too much!), it is very easy to get 100% "complete" protein, meaning all 8 essential amino acids are present. It can be made ahead of time and frozen in batches. You can control the ingredients going into your food if you make stock yourself. It can be frozen and used later as needed. Shred the chicken and use it in soups and sandwiches. A.K |
