There are so many different lentil curries, prepared differently all over the world- but Black/Brown Lentils are my favourite and there's no doubt about that! When I come back home from a trip or have been eating out a lot, this Black/Brown Lentil Curry is what I end up craving after a few days. Lentil Curry with some rice and salad. YUM! Nothing tastes more like home. You might recognize this as "Dal Makhani" in Indian restaurants, but this is the non creamy version: slightly sour, full of flavour and made extra fragrant with a perfect tarrka or bhagaar at the end. For a simpler, lower calorie soup, omit the tarrka/bhagaar and have the lentil soup as is with some lemon! W.P
Happy Monday Folks! As I have said before, serious steak lovers do not like their steaks overly seasoned and it takes a couple of tries till you get it right. And of course, everyone is different and likes their steak a certain way. Here is 1 of the simplest of ways to make steak night work without a grill. The Simple Rub. W.P
"If yu waa good, yu nose affi run" is an old Jamaican proverb that means if you want success, you have to work hard. But some how, the saying just reminds me of scotch bonnet peppers, famous for being used often in Jamaican cooking... I guess I think of it because of the immediate sniffling that occurs right after you eat some really good food with proper scotch bonnet peppers! I got some from my mom in law's back yard a couple of days ago and plan to make a nice pepper sauce with them but in the meantime, here is a recipe for a Fusion Scotch Bonnet Spiced Cremini Mushroom & Paneer Pie that I came up with on the fly to use up some pie crusts. The fresh herbs really work well with the hot peppers- just make sure to serve the pie with some sour cream for those who cannot handle some heat! W.P
This is a really easy recipe for a Mild Chicken Stroganoff that I made when a friend of ours came over who does not like any spice in her food. You can alter the recipe by adding more flavoured black pepper or some red chilli pepper flakes of course; however, this tastes great as is and is a very easy dish to prepare. It is definitely 1 that is loved by kids and adults alike. I had also put the recipe up for Fusion MInced Beef Stroganoff a couple of weeks ago. This is a little different and is lighter in taste of course. I hope you try yet another 1 of our easy recipes and let us know what you think! *Make sure you use gluten free spices and sour cream to ensure this recipe is indeed GF. W.P
