![]() If your family likes having oatmeal for breakfast, you probably make a small batch a couple of times a week. Oatmeal can be made in the microwave, on the stove or in the crock pot. If you want to have minimal work for yourself in the morning, cook it in the crock pot with a pinch of salt, water or milk and water at night and it will be ready to eat for breakfast. I’m all for time saving tips as we all have so many things to do in the morning and such little time. Another tip is to have an oatmeal tray on your counter all the time. This way, everyone can choose whatever toppings they want on their oatmeal. I know I don’t want to be eating plain oatmeal every single day! Some suggestions for the tray are: cinnamon powder in a shaker, brown sugar, Splenda, sugar, honey, chopped almonds, dried raisins, dried cranberries, granola and chopped walnuts. Fresh ingredients that can be used are: grated apple, banana, blueberries, strawberries, goat cheese and grated pears. The tray could also have some bowls and spoons so that everything is in one place. As everyone trickles downstairs for breakfast, they can ladle themselves a serving or two of cooked oatmeal straight from the crockpot and choose their toppings before sitting down to eat. This simple tip can save you from rushing around the kitchen and catering to everyone’s different needs. This way, everyone can help themselves to breakfast! Try these tips and let us know how they work for you. A.K. |
