![]() Every year we look forward to going for strawberry picking. It has almost become a tradition in my family. The kids and my husband and I all enjoy picking, eating and storing the strawberries. They are always so ripe, juicy and delicious that we can’t get enough of them. When my kids were toddlers they would sit in the field and eat strawberries with both hands. We usually get a small bucket for each of us to use while picking as that allows everyone to participate. Once we get home, we wash all the strawberries, strain all the water out, cut off the tops and freeze them in large trays. Once frozen, we put them in large Ziploc bags for future use. My family loves smoothies and punches. These work very well to make those in a pinch. When strawberries are not in season, they can get very expensive. If you live close to a strawberry picking farm, go ahead and enjoy this opportunity and get yourself enough strawberries to last you a couple of weeks. Every time we have family visiting in the summer from another city or country, we take them strawberry picking as this experience cannot be missed. For now, I am going to go ahead and make everyone a strawberry and banana smoothie for a snack. Toodles! A.K |
