Lemon Rose Harissa Spaghetti

Serves 4

I, like many others, love a spicy kick in my food. I enjoy trying different types of hot sauces, chillies, peppers, and condiments. My husband and best friend share this passion (with a much higher threshold than I!) and it’s fun for us to try new things. My friend and a fellow food blogger, Nadia, brought over some treats from Pusateri’s for us and a rose harissa was 1 of them. For those who don’t know- harissa is not the same as harees although the spelling is some times the same. People from different parts of North Africa have their own versions. I am going to try to make 1 soon, but for now, here is a simple, delicious, satisfying recipe using the rose harissa by Belazu.

back
What you need:

1 packet spaghetti boiled as per instructions
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp butter
2 tsps minced garlic
1 tsp mixed Italian herbs
½ tsp dried dill
Cracked black pepper to taste
Pinch of salt
1 ½ tbsps rose harissa (you can increase this of course if you like it even hotter!)
Fresh parsley
Freshly squeezed lemon juice to taste

How to:

  1. Once the spaghetti is boiled, drain and set aside for a minute
  2. In the same pot, heat the olive oil and butter, then fry the minced garlic till golden
  3. Add in the spaghetti again, tossing the whole time while the temp is between low and medium
  4. Add in all the other ingredients and toss till completely coated
  5. Serve with some freshly squeezed lemon juice and parsley to garnish

ENJOY!
